Trojans Open Crossroads League Play with Road Win

GOSHEN, Ind. – The TU lineup continued to roll with its ninth 10-run outing in the season. The Trojans picked up a road victory in their Crossroads League opener at Goshen (5-11, 0-1 CL) winning by a 10-3 final margin.
In a single nine inning contest, Taylor (13-2, 1-0 CL) grabbed an early lead and never looked back. Eight hits in the first two innings led to six runs for the visiting Trojans. Nick Rusche nabbed two hits, including a two-run homer within the two frames.
TU launched back-to-back doubles to start the fourth inning, leading to a three-run rally. TJ Bass doubled for an RBI, before Ben Kalbaugh singled to plate a pair of baserunners.
Conner Crawford went five-for-five at the plate, which improved his hitting streak to an impressive 10 games. The sophomore posted a career-high five base hits with one double and two runs scored. Crawford has been cruising in 2020, boasting a .382 batting average and .564 slugging percentage.
Luke Shively earned the win on the hill in his fourth start of the season. The junior fanned seven GC hitters through five innings of work. Tucker Waddups finished the outing for TU, logging the save. Waddups refused to allow a runner in scoring position, giving up a single and a walk in different innings.
The Purple and Gold will continue their series at Goshen on Saturday with a doubleheader at 12:00 pm.
