UIndy, Missouri S&T Earn GLVC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Awards

INDIANAPOLIS – University of Indianapolis junior sprinter Brian Sales and Missouri S&T sophomore multi-even specialist Ezekiel Buck have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced by the Conference office Wednesday.

MEN’S INDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Brian Sales, Indianapolis
Jr., Sprinter, Merrillville, Indiana
Team Competition:  NTS, IWU Midwest Classic

Won the 400 meters in 48.92 seconds, good for the third-best time in the GLVC

  • First career GLVC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honor
  • Last Indianapolis Indoor Track Athlete of the Week: Treyvon Matthews (1/30/18)

MEN’S INDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Ezekiel Buck, Missouri S&T
So., Multi Events, Elburn, Illinois

Team Competition:  NTS, Missouri Southern’s Lion Open

Posted a school record and NCAA Provisional mark with 4,975 points in heptathlon

Currently ranks second in the GLVC and 18th nationally

  • First career GLVC Indoor Field Athlete of the Week honor
  • Last Missouri S&T Indoor Field Athlete of the Week: Cody Durand (2/18/15)

 

Bellarmine, UIndy Take GLVC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Weekly Honors

INDIANAPOLIS – Bellarmine University senior middle distance runner Erin Crone and University of Indianapolis redshirt junior thrower Katie Monk have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced by the Conference office Wednesday.

WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Sr., Middle Distance, Indianapolis, Indiana
Team Competition:  NTS, Hillsdale Wide Track Classic

 

Ran an NCAA Provisional qualifying mark of 9:49.80 in the 3,000-meter run on Friday

Effort ranks her first in the GLVC and eighth nationally

Returned Saturday with another NCAA Provisional qualifying time of 5:00.74 in the mile

Currently ranks first in the GLVC and 26th nationally in the event

  • First career GLVC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honor
  • Last Bellarmine Indoor Track Athlete of the Week: Amanda Schnabel (1/23/18)

WOMEN’S INDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Katie Monk, Indianapolis
Jr., Throws, Churabusco, Indiana

Team Competition:  NTS, Hillsdale Wide Track Classic

 

Placed first in both the shot put (14.77m) and weight throw (19.47m)

Set a new school record in the weight throw

  • Remained first in the GLVC in both events, along with being nationally ranked fourth in the weight throw and seventh in the shot put
  • Second straight and fourth career GLVC Indoor Field Athlete of the Week honor (2/15/15, 1/23/18, 1/30/18)
  • Last Indianapolis Indoor Field Athlete of the Week: Katie Monk (1/30/18)
