Chargers Hot in a Cold Sunday Evening Win

Ancilla College (11-5, 5-2) survived the cold and a long road trip to beat Jackson College (4-11, 3-3) 100-93 Sunday in a Michigan Community College Athletic Association contest that was postponed from Saturday. The win moved Ancilla into a second place tie in the conference.

Five Chargers finished in double figures, led by Jerron Tatum with 19 points, Mike Green added 17, and Al Haskins and Ty’Sean Sheppard each scored 16 points. Nate Meriweather finished with 12 points. Haskins and Weston Gage each grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Chargers welcome conference leading Grand Rapids (12-5, 5-1) to town Wednesday night for a 7:30 p.m. start at the LifePlex in Plymouth.

Lady Chargers Fall on the Road

Jackson, MI – The Ancilla College women’s basketball team started fast on Sunday afternoon, but host Jackson (6-8, 5-1) caught fire and rolled to an 89-64 Michigan Community College Athletic Association victory in a contest that was postponed from Saturday.

Emily Jakes had a career high 17-points for Ancilla (8-8, 2-4), with LaRae Rascoe adding 13 and Talia Bee tallying 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Ancilla led 17-12 after the first stop, but Jackson thawed out and took a 36-29 advantage at halftime and took command from there.

The Lady Chargers host Grand Rapids (11-6, 2-4) on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the LifePlex in Plymouth.
