Green, Sheppard Lift Chargers to Victory

Mike Green and Ty’Sean Sheppard continued to score at a high pace Saturday as they propelled Ancilla College (9-5, 2-2) to a Michigan Community College Athletic Association victory over Kalamazoo (4-12, 2-2) on the road Saturday.

Green poured in 29 points on 11-19 shooting, while Sheppard added 25 pooints and was perfect from the foul line hitting all 10 of his attempts. He also added 11 rebounds.  No one else was in double figures, but five other individuals had between seven and nine points. Albert Haskins had nine rebounds.

Ancilla which is presently third in the conference with six other colleges, hosts  second place Mid-Michigan (8-5, 3-1) at 7:30 p.m. on
Wednesday at the LifePlex in Plymouth.

Second Half Rally Sparks Lady Chargers

Kalamazoo — After trailing the entire game, LaRae Rascoe hit an and one, basket and free throw, to get Ancilla College to within three points. Talia Bee hit a three from the side a few seconds later and Camryn Kopka sealed the game when she hit her three with four seconds to go to give Ancilla its first lead and the victory, Saturday.

The Lady Chargers had trailed by 16 at half. But as badly as they had played in the first half, they played some of their best ball of the season in the second half as they stormed back with a 32 point third quarter and 22 points in the fourth quarter.

Rascoe led the way with 27 points, 10 rebounds and 12 steals steals claiming the first triple-double of her career at Ancilla. Kopka added 25 points and five steals. Bee had just six points on the night, but found the basketball when ancilla needed points at the end. Jaela Meister addednine rounds and a career-high six blocks.

Ancilla (8-6, 2-2) hosts conference leading and undefeated Mid-Michigan (12-0, 4-0) Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
