Ancilla Sending Four Wrestlers to Nationals

Muskegon, MI – Ancilla College qualified four wrestlers to advance to the NJCAA Wrestling Nationals in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Ancilla placed fourth of seven teams in the North Central Districts held on Sunday.

Austen Laughlin won the 141 weight class with a win by fall (2.47) over James Foy of Harper College. Luke Sinkovics placed second, losing in the championship match 0-3 to Corey Perkins of Muskegon. Trystan VanDerAa was third in the 197 class winning by fall (3.52) over Isaiah Dole of Muskegon. Thaddeus Dietrich placed fourth in the 149-pound class, losing by fall (4:48) to Harper’s Ulises Jacobo.

Other finishers for Ancilla included Joshua Cooper who placed 5th in the 157 class, Stephen Biancardi was fifth at 133 and Tykease Baker placed 5th in the 165-pound class.

Harper College won the event with 142 points, outdistancing the field by over 25 points. Ancilla was fourth with 76.5 points.
