Muskegon. MI – The Ancilla women’s basketball team never got their offense going and Muskegon Community College (15-5, 8-1) used that lapse to claim a 76-62 Michigan Community College Athletic Association win over the Lady Chargers (16-4, 6-3) on Saturday. After a slow start, the closest Ancilla could get was five-points in the fourth quarter, but the Jayhawks quickly expanded their advantage back to double digits again.
Muskegon retains the top spot in the MCCAA West, while Ancilla falls into fourth place. Ancilla was the last team to beat Muskegon when they defeated the Jayhawks 89-80 in early January at the LifePlex.
“We had a number of opportunities at different points in the game to take the game under our control but we couldn’t finish out runs,” said Ancilla head coach Tom Robbins.
The Lady Chargers were led by LaRae Roscoe with 22 points and Brenda Krueger with 13. Karson Williams had nine rebounds.
Ancilla will complete their three-game road trip when they travel to Battle Creek, MI to play Kellogg Community College on Wednesday. Tip is at 5:30 p.m.
