Ashmore Shines; PNW Women’s Soccer Loses to Michigan Tech, 1-0
HAMMOND, Ind. – Junior Lucie Ashmore (Greystones, Ireland/St. Gerald’s School) recorded 10 saves, but the Purdue Northwest women’s soccer team lost a defensive struggle with Michigan Tech, 1-0, in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action Sunday morning at Pepsi Field in Dowling Park in Hammond, Ind.  The Pride were limited to just three shots in the game with all three coming in the second half.

After a scoreless first half, the game-deciding goal came less than nine minutes into the second half when senior Sarah Boyd broke free from her defender and found the back of the net on a shot from the left side from 10 yards out.  Freshman Emily Zeitunian recorded the assist on the goal.

Junior Shelby Ross (Marquette, Mich./Columbus North), freshman Breanna Hamilton (Griffith, Ind./Griffith) and freshman Maddie Revercomb (Highland, Ind./Highland) each had a shot for PNW in Sunday’s game.

The Pride (0-6-0 overall/0-2-0) hosts Tiffin University (Ohio) on Friday, September 29, for a GLIAC match-up.  The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start at Pepsi Field.
