SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Jess Alexander (SR/Granger, Indiana) registered her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds to help lead the Indiana University South Bend women’s basketball team to a 78-72 victory over an undefeated Concordia University team on Thursday night.

IU South Bend shot 41 percent from the field and 47 percent from long distance in the win.

Alexander scored six of the Titans first 11 points as the Titans took a 17-11 lead after one quarter. With 8:08 left to play in the second frame, Loren Vukovits (JR/ North Liberty, Indiana) gave IU South Bend its largest lead of the contest with a layup to make it 21-11. Concordia was able to cut their deficit to six points before the intermission.

Concordia’s offense started clicking in the third quarter as they quickly turned their deficit into a lead, eventually going up by as many as eight points at the end of the quarter.

Taitlyn Trenshaw (FR/Nappanee, Indiana) provided a spark off the bench for the Titans as she scored off a Cardinal turnover to even the game at 64 with less than four minutes left in the game. Trenshaw finished with nine points on the night.

Kyleigh Kubik (SO/LaPorte, Indiana) scored five straight points after the layup by Trenshaw to give the Titans a slim five point lead with 2:37 to play. The Titan defense was able to get stops when they needed them down the stretch and hang on for a six point victory.

Kubik finished with a team-high 15 points.

IU South Bend will travel to Lima, Ohio on Saturday to take on Northwestern Ohio.
