Pilots Win Home Invite by 15-Strokes
The Bethel College women’s golf team left little doubt in their come-from-behind win on Saturday at the Pilot Spring Invite. Coming into the final round trailing by two strokes to Saint Xavier, the Pilots put together a team score of 325, which launched them into first place by an impressive 15 strokes.
Brooke Thomas had a great 18-hole performance by carding a team-low 79 that moved her into a tie for third place in the field of 51. Overall, Thomas scored a 162 in the 36-hole event. Jocelyn Ojala made the most of her final day in competition at Blackthorn by trimming five strokes off Friday’s score and turning in the second-best score of the day for the Pilots with an 81. Following closely behind Ojala were senior classmates Allie Smith and Chelsea Thomas who landed an 82 and 83, respectively. Overall, Smith finished in a tie for third alongside Brooke Thomas.
The Pilots have one more regular-season tournament on the docket before heading into postseason competition in early May. BC will be in action in Peru, Indiana, at Rock Hollow Golf Course for the two-day, 36-hole Rumble at the Rock. Action will tee off on April 21st and will conclude on April 22nd.
