HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The Bethel Pilots (10-14, 5-11) pitching staff struggled with the Huntington Foresters (11-15, 6-10) lineup with a total of 27 runs allowed in the doubleheader loss and series win for the Foresters at Forest Glen Park on Saturday.
GAME 3
The Foresters got on the board in the bottom of the first from a sacrifice fly to right field, followed by a single up the middle to take an early 2-0 lead before Elijah Gaines answered in the top of the third with a sacrifice fly to right to bring home Angel Colon to make it a 2-1 game. Adam Walters drew the throw to second on a delayed double steal that aided Hudson Francis to tie the game 2-2 in the third frame.
HU got back on top in the bottom of the fourth from an RBI double and followed with a crooked number in the fifth of seven runs to extend the lead to 10-2. The Foresters tacked on their 12th run of the game in the sixth with a two-RBI double, 12-2.
Corbin Greenslade roped in two runs in the top of the seventh by forcing an error by the third baseman, but those runs were erased by a two-run home run in the bottom of the frame and triggered the 10-run rule 14-4, and took the series lead 2-1.
Preston Stutzman was given the loss after tossing four innings and allowing eight hits, five runs, walked one, and struck out one.
GAME 4
The Foresters tallied two runs in the bottom of the second to get the scoring started with a two-RBI single through the right side, then scored two more times in the fourth with a double through the right side and a single to right, 4-0 HU.
The Foresters added a fifth run in the fifth on a single to right, but the run was scored on an error by the right fielder. Greenslade plated Gaines to break up the shutout, but HU added seven runs in the bottom of the sixth and secured the game four win, 13-1, and the series win 3-1.
