West Palm Beach, Fla. – The Bethel College Pilots men’s basketball overcame a six-point deficit with 3:52 remaining to score a thrilling double overtime victory against (RV) Keiser (Fla.).

  • Ott became the 39th player in program history with at least 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in his career. He currently stands at 1,289 points (38th) and 504 rebounds (37th) for his career.
  • Lutz finished with a career-high 12 rebounds and Bethel season-high 8 three-pointers made. He is now shooting 55.6% (30-54) from beyond the arc this season.
  • Luke Fisher, in his first start of the season, sealed the game with a steal on the Seahawks’ final possession and hit two free throws after being fouled to give the Pilots the final four-point margin.
  • Kyle Hartman became the fastest player to reach 100 career assists in program history as he now totals 103 in 14 career games.
  • This was the Pilots’ first overtime game since the last game of Coach Mike Lightfoot’s career last season in the NAIA DII Quarterfinals against Bellevue.

NEXT TIME OUT

  • The Pilots return to the Midwest for a pair of road games next week, at Great Lakes Christian (Mich.) on Thursday, December 29 at 6pm and at Windsor (Ont.) on Friday, December 30 at 4pm before resuming Crossroads League play in 2018.

The Bethel College Athletic Department earned the NAIA Champion of Character Five-Star Gold Institution and produced 17 NAIA Scholar-Teams last season. While accumulating 3 NAIA National Championships and 32 NCCAA National Championships by 10 different athletic teams, Bethel has also produced 143 NAIA All-American honors and 309 NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors over the past decade.
