Mishawaka, Ind. — The Bethel University Men’s Volleyball squad (10-14, 6-12) closed their season with a 3-0 victory over Siena Heights University (5-16, 3-15) in the Goodman Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.
In the first set, Bethel led the entire set after starting the set with a 4-1 run.
A service ace from Mustafa Yildiz and a couple of kills from Marcos Henrike helped the Pilots gain a seven-point lead (17-10).
After Siena Heights found 5-1 late in the set, the Pilots could close out with a couple of kills from Arthur Barreto, which gave the Pilots a 25-20 first-set victory.
The Pilots had more control during the second set, maintaining a six-point lead for most of the set.
A 6-2 run for the Pilots led by Barreto gave BU their second set victory.
Siena Heights opened the third set with a 4-2 lead but was tied up at seven as Yildiz and Barreto kept recording kills.
A five-point lead late in the set (19-14) wasn’t the end of SH, as they found a four-point run with a couple of errors from Bethel and a service ace from
Jacob Kisner forced BU to take a timeout, and Bethel regrouped and battled back with a 6-2 run to finish the game and the sweep on the afternoon.
