Women’s Golf Plays to Top of Leaderborad at Midway
Bethel women’s golf had a great day on the golf course and worked their way to the top of the leader board after 18 holes at the Midway University Spring Invite. BC carded a 345, which gives them a one-stroke lead over the hosts heading into day two. A second group of Pilots also played and put together a great performance to land in third.
Leading the Pilots overall was Allie Smith who is in a three-way tie for first place at the midway point of the competition. Smith, whose score counts for the second set of Pilots, finished the day with an 81. Her twin sister, Annie Smith, was the top finisher on Bethel’s squad that leads the way as she put together a round of 82. Freshmen Chloe Crusan and Brooke Thomas each finished in the top 10 in the opening round, carding an 84 and 86 respectively. Along with Smith and Thomas’ scores, the final tally for BC’s top-seeded team was rounded out with an 88 from Jocelyn Ojala and an 89 from Katie Brooks. The Pilots’ third-place squad picked up their final two scores from Kennedy Bonwell (89) and Taylor Russell (94).
Action will resume tomorrow at the Midway Spring Invite with the final 18 holes in the 36-hole event.
