Bethel University honored the passing of former head coach Kevin Ulmer who had passed away due to cancer earlier in the week and the Pilots rallied to sweep.

The first set opened with Goshen on a 6-2 run and Taylor Delp broke it up with a kill off Haley Biedenbach. Bethel tied the set 8-8 from Ainsley Tacke’s kill and the Pilots took advantage of it by jumping to a 16-11 lead. Goshen battled and tied the set 18-18 and again at 22-22, but Delp, Tacke, and Maddy Payne threw down three straight kills to take set one 25-22.

The second frame was knotted up at 18 all again after Michaela Whitaker’s kill off Reanna Brown, then the Pilots went on a 7-2 tear to secure the second set 25-20. The Pilots had a secure lead through most of the third set until Goshen chipped away and nearly tied the set at 19-18, but Payne had back-to-back kills to jump to 21-18. Bethel secured the third set 25-23 and finished the sweep.
