KANSAS CITY –The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced their Men’s Soccer National Players of the Week on Tuesday, recognizing the top athletes from the week of September 16-22. Bethel men’s soccer freshman Finn Popescu earned the sweep of Player of the Week awards, taking home the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Popescu did not yield a goal in 207 minutes of work in the net for Bethel, helping the Pilots to a 1-0 upset of No. 15 Cardinal Stritch and a scoreless draw with No. 11 Madonna. The freshman goalie notched four saves in each contest. It is the first NAIA National Player of the Week honor for the Pilots in 2019-20 and the third accolade for keeper from Osnabruck, Germany—also earning the Crossroads League Player of the Week, and NCCAA National Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday–for the sweep of the Player of the Week awards.
