Bethel’s Payne named NAIA Defender of the Week

Defender of the Week: Maddy Payne, Bethel (Ind.)

KANSAS CITY – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the National Player of the Week Award winners for the week of Oct. 26 – Nov. 1 and Maddy Payne earned the Women’s Volleyball National Defender of the Week honor.

Payne totaled 23 total blocks with 19 assisted and four solo blocks in three wins on the week. She added 21 kills and 12 blocks for the Pilots. 

It is the fifth NAIA National Player of the Week honor for the Pilots in 2020-21 and the fourth weekly accolade for the middle hitter from Nappanee. Payne was previously named the Crossroads League Defender of the Week on Monday.

Payne totaled 23 total blocks with 19 assisted and four solo blocks.
