• Michigan claimed its third-straight victory over a ranked opponent following a 42-7 win against Penn State. The Wolverines have allowed an average of just 99.0 passing yards in those three games and a completion percentage of 33.8 percent. In all games, the Wolverines have returned four interceptions for touchdowns, while surrendering only six touchdown passes …
• With Wisconsin’s victory over Rutgers, head coach Paul Chryst became the fifth Big Ten coach all-time to win 40 games in his first four seasons at a conference school. Ohio State’s Urban Meyer leads the way with 50 wins in his first four seasons, followed by Michigan’s Fielding Yost (43 wins), Minnesota’s Henry Williams (42 wins), and Ohio State’s Jim Tressel and Chryst (40 wins) …
• Purdue defeated Iowa 38-36 on Saturday by virtue of Spencer Evans’ 25-yard field goal. It was the third time this season that the Boilermakers beat a ranked team and the first time they’ve beaten a trio of ranked teams in a season since 2003 …
• Illinois running back Reggie Corbin ran 13 times for a career-high 213 yards against Minnesota on Saturday, making him the first Illini to reach the 200-yard plateau since Mikel Leshoure ran for 330 yards against Northwestern in 2010 …
• Penn State’s Trace McSorley and Wisconsin’s D’Cota Dixon are among 13 finalists for the Campbell Trophy, presented annually by the National Football Foundation to college football’s top scholar-athlete. Six students from current Big Ten schools have earned the Campbell Trophy, with Penn State’s John Urschel the most recent conference recipient in 2013 …
• Six Big Ten schools – Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State and Wisconsin – have clinched bowl berths by reaching six victories on the season. The Big Ten continues to feature the largest bowl lineup in conference history …
