• Six schools take the ice this week, with nine of the 10 games airing on linear networks, including doubleheaders on BTN on Thursday, Monday and Tuesday.

 

• Five Big Ten teams appear in the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls this week. Michigan is ranked No. 6 in both the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls. Ohio State follows at No. 9/10, Penn State checks in at No. 10/9, Minnesota sits at No. 11/11, while Wisconsin rounds out the list at No. 14/13. Notre Dame is receiving votes in both the USCHO.com poll and the USA Hockey Magazine poll.

 

• Every televised game on BTN can be streamed on the FOX Sports app. All games broadcast by FOX Sports Regional Networks can also be streamed on the FOX Sports GO app for authenticated subscribers to the broadcasting regional network, or on BTN+.

 

• Twelve of the top 20 goaltenders in save percentage last year return this season, including Mike Richter Award semifinalist Strauss Mann from Michigan and Ohio State’s Tommy Nappier. Mann finished the 2019-20 season ranked second nationally with a .939 save percentage, while Nappier tied for seventh (.932). Nappier also enters this season ranked fourth on the active career shutout leaderboard with eight. 

 

• Big Ten rosters feature two of the 11 active 2020 NHL first-round draft picks this season: Michigan’s Brendan Brisson (No. 29) and Wisconsin’s Dylan Holloway (No. 14). In all, Big Ten rosters feature 48 players who have been selected in the NHL Draft.

 

• Thirteen percent of NHL players came from Big Ten schools in 2019-20, as 81 standouts from Big Ten programs competed in the NHL, an average of 11.6 per school. For those who do not continue playing hockey, the Big Ten provides access to some of the largest alumni networks in the world with 5.7 million alumni and nearly 580,000 students.

 

• On Nov. 5, the Big Ten announced the first half of the schedule for the 2020-21 hockey season. The full schedule will feature 24 conference games for each team, plus an additional four contests per school against Arizona State University hosted at Big Ten venues. The 2020-21 schedule will conclude March 18-20, 2021, with the Big Ten Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament. Individual team schedules that have been announced to date can be found on pages 4-5 below. 

 

• This season, teams will be awarded three points in the conference standings for a win in regulation. If the game is tied following regulation, both teams will receive one point, with a second point being awarded to the team that wins in either the 3-on-3 overtime period or the shootout.
