Boerema,Hill and Zuidema named NCCAA, league Player of Week

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – After a pair of pivotal winning plays for Grace’s men’s soccer team, Cody Boerema was honored as the Player of the Week for both the NCCAA and the Crossroads League on Monday.

Boerema made two late plays to help Grace win two dramatic matches in the Crossroads League Tournament.

His goal in the 87th minute against Mt. Vernon Nazarene tied the quarterfinal game, which Grace won in double overtime.

Boerema then provided the game-winning assist against Goshen in the 89th minute of the semifinals as Grace won 2-1.

The Lancers will play for the tournament championship on Saturday at Spring Arbor.

Hill, Zuidema honored with Player of Week awards

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Following two wins last week, a pair of Grace volleyball players were recognized with player of the week awards.

Alexa Hill was named the NCCAA National Player of the Week, and Kelsee Zuidema was the Crossroads League Attacker of the Week.

Hill organized a dominant week for Grace’s attack, tallying 14.7 assists per set in a pair of Grace victories. She had 47 assists and seven digs in a sweep of Goshen, followed by 56 assists and 10 digs in four sets against Huntington in the quarterfinals of the Crossroads League Tournament.

Zuidema pounded out 36 kills in two matches for Grace, averaging 5.1 kills per set while hitting at a .460 percentage. She had 21 kills in just three sets against Goshen. Defensively she added eight digs and four block assists last week.

The Lady Lancers continue in the league tournament on Wednesday, traveling to Indiana Wesleyan for a 7 p.m. semifinal match.
