LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern University women’s basketball senior guard Makenzie Cann was named The Sun Conference Player of the Week for her efforts over Christmas break for the second-ranked Fire.
The Kentucky transfer averaged 16.6 points per game over SEU’s six games, four of which were played against Top 25 opponents. Cann had 16 points, eight assists, and four rebounds against fourth-ranked College of the Ozarks, and had another 16 with five rebounds and four assists against No. 6 Indiana Tech during the SEU Classic.
Cann also had a career night with 31 points, 12 assists, and eight steals, going 7-of-9 from 3-point range against Trinity Christian during a game the Fire flirted with an NAIA record for successful 3-pointers in a game, netting 23.
Southeastern is currently 12-2 this season and resume Sun Conference play Thursday at Thomas.
