The Centier Bank Performers of the Week are Penn senior basketball player Noah Applegate and Crown Point senior wrestler Ethan Potosky.
In Saturday’s 80-57 victory over Goshen, the 6-foot-6 Applegate scored 20 points to become the program’s all-time leading scorer with 1,445 points. The Hillsdale College signee, who also had four rebounds, three assists, and three steals, surpassed the previous mark of 1,433 points established by Keith Berkey in 1964. Applegate also contributed 16 points and eight rebounds for the Kingsmen (13-2) in Friday’s 75-51 victory at rival Mishawaka.
In Saturday’s wrestling sectional held at Crown Point, Potosky overcame a broken leg suffered during football season to claim the 195-pound championship by pinning Hebron’s Ewan Donovan at the 5:42 mark to help the Bulldogs capture the team title with 294.5 points. He has advanced to the semistate round in each of the past two seasons and hopes to make it even further by overcoming this huge obstacle along the way.
The Centier Bank Performer of the Week is open to any male-female student athlete who participates in any IHSAA sanctioned sport and whose school is in the Centier Bank geographic area.
