The Centier Bank Performers of the Week are Valparaiso junior guard Brandon Newman and Goshen junior forward Bryant Robinson. In Friday’s 57-54 overtime Duneland Conference win at Merrillville, the 6-foot-3 standout scored 22 points, hitting 7-of-12 shots from the field and 8-of-12 from the charity stripe, and pulled down 10 rebounds. Then, in Saturday 56-55 non-conference victory over Munster, Newman knocked down the game-winning 3-point shot from the top of the key with 0.08 seconds left in the contest. In the game, he tallied 23 points, including five 3-point baskets, and pulled down seven rebounds to help the Vikings improve to 11-4 overall and 3-0 in the DAC.

In Saturday’s 72-64 victory at Penn, the 6-4 Robinson poured in a career-high 34 points, hitting 10-of-15 field goals, including 8-of-11 from 3-point range. He was also 6-of-11 from the free throw line and grabbed four rebounds to help the RedHawks (7-8) to their second straight win. Although Robinson scored just four points in Friday’s 53-51 Northern Lakes Conference triumph against Elkhart Memorial, he did come up with a key steal in the closing seconds to preserve the win.

The Centier Bank Performer of the Week is open to any male or female student athlete who participates in any IHSAA sanctioned sport and whose school is in the Centier Bank geographic area.
