The Centier Bank Performers of the Week are NorthWood senior quarterback Bronson Yoder and Chesterton senior soccer player Jack Eaton.
In Friday’s 56-8 win at Plymouth, the 5-foot-11, 191-pound Yoder ran 11 times for 233 yards with three touchdowns, completed 2-of-4 passes for 68 yards with a score, caught two passes for 29 yards, and also intercepted a pass to help the top-ranked (Class 4A) Panthers (9-0) wrap up the outright Northern Lakes Conference championship.
In Saturday’s 3-2 win over Penn in the Class 3A Goshen regional semifinals, Eaton netted two goals, including the game-winner in double-overtime. Then, in a 4-3 win over Northridge in the championship match, he added the game-tying goal to help the top-ranked Trojans (19-0-2) advance to the Kokomo Semistate to take on Carroll (Fort Wayne) (17-2-2) on October 20.
Special recognition also goes out to the Hammond Bishop Noll boys’ soccer team, which captured the Class 2A Mishawaka Marian Regional with a 2-1 win over top-ranked South Bend Saint Joseph in the semifinals and then a 3-2 decision over West Noble in the title match. The Warriors (18-2) take on Fort Wayne Canterbury (16-4-1) in Saturday’s South Bend Saint Joseph Semistate at Father Bly Field.
The Centier Bank Performer of the Week is open to any male-female student athlete who participates in any IHSAA sanctioned sport and whose school is in the Centier Bank geographic area.
