The Centier Bank Performers of the Week are Lowell senior cross country runner Alex Fleming and Wheeler junior soccer player Lyric Green.

In Saturday’s New Prairie boys’ cross country semistate, Fleming took first place with a time of 15:25.6, which helped the Red Devils claim the team title over Valparaiso by a score of 80-91. Fleming and Lowell move on to compete in the IHSAA state finals being held this coming Saturday at the Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute.

In Saturday’s Class 1A Saint Joseph girls’ soccer semistate, Green accounted for both goals in the Bearcats’ 2-0 victory over Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian. Green accounted for the first tally in the 17th minute with a shot past the Blackhawk keeper and later added an insurance goal to help Wheeler (21-0) clinch its first-ever state title game berth. The Bearcats now take on Evansville Mater Dei (12-6-4) this coming Saturday at the Michael A. Carroll Track and Soccer Stadium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis.

The Centier Bank Performer of the Week is open to any male-female student athlete who participates in any IHSAA sanctioned sport and whose school is in the Centier Bank geographic area.
