The Centier Bank Performers of the Week are North Judson senior volleyball player Lauren Cox, along with Valparaiso senior defensive back Jackson Hofferth and the rest of the Vikings’ defense.
In Saturday’s Class 2A state championship match against Christian Academy at Ball State’s Worthen Arena, Cox came with 22 kills, 19 digs, and an ace to lead the Bluejays (27-7) to a 25-23, 27-25, 25-21 victory and their first state title in any sport. Cox was also the recipient of the Class 2A mental attitude award.
In Friday’s Class 6A Sectional 2 football championship game against Penn, Hofferth came up with an interception in the Vikings’ 21-0 victory. In winning their first sectional crown since 2010, Valparaiso (9-2) limited the Kingsmen to just 96 total yards and held them scoreless at TCU Freed Field for the first time since 2005.
The Centier Bank Performer of the Week is open to any male-female student athlete who participates in any IHSAA sanctioned sport and whose school is in the Centier Bank geographic area.
