The Centier Bank Performers of the Week are Lighthouse CPA senior forward Daijah Smith and Mishawaka Marian senior guard Michael Hemmingway. In the Lions’ 68-63 loss to host Hammond Bishop Noll Thursday in the Hoops 4 Pink semifinals, the 5-foot-11 Smith scored 34 points with 20 coming in the first half, including a banked 3-pointer at the buzzer. In Friday’s third place contest, she scored 32 points on 10 field goals, including a 3-pointer, and 10-of-12 from the free throw line in a 73-58 loss to Plainfield East.

In the Knights’ 67-37 victory over Concord Wednesday in the semifinals of the Marian Holiday Tournament, the 5-10 Hemmingway netted 21 points, going 9-of-13 from the field, with two rebounds, eight steals, and eight assists. Later in the championship game, Hemmingway poured in 36 points on 14-of-22 shooting from the floor and 5-of-6 from the free throw line to help the Knights (6-1) to an 83-40 victory over LaPorte. Hemmingway also added six rebounds, five steals, and seven assists.

The Centier Bank Performer of the Week is open to any male-female student athlete who participates in any IHSAA sanctioned sport and whose school is in the Centier Bank geographic area.
