The Centier Bank Performers of the Week are Boone Grove junior track and field performer Brae’ton Vann and New Prairie junior softball player Karissa Gilpin.
In Saturday’s Porter County Conference track meet held at Kouts High School, Vann helped the Wolves to the boys’ team title with 188 points by being part of four winning events. In addition to capturing the 100-meter sprint with a time of 11.34 and the 200-meter sprint with a time of 23.14, Vann was also the anchor for the winning 400-meter (45.42) and 1,600-meter relay (3:34.24) teams.
On Wednesday, Gilpin tossed a five-hit shutout with two strikeouts and helped her cause with a double as the Cougars (11-5) ended Penn’s 49-game Northern Indiana Conference winning streak with a 2-0 triumph. This came after she missed practice the previous day because of a severe migraine headache. Then on Friday, she allowed two hits with three strikeouts over two innings in a 16-2 win over South Bend Washington to improve her record to 8-4.
The Centier Bank Performer of the Week is open to any male-female student athlete who participates in any IHSAA sanctioned sport and whose school is in the Centier Bank geographic area.
