The Centier Bank Performers of the Week are Plymouth senior Nate Patterson, Chesterton senior Braden Corzan, Crown Point senior Nick Ryan, Lake Central senior Destiny Washington, and Crown Point sophomore Maddie Russin.
At Saturday’s IHSAA state track and field meet held at Indiana University in Bloomington, the University of Southern California bound Patterson won the high jump with a state-record jump of 7-feet-4 inches, breaking the previous mark of 7-1 ¼ established in 1977. Corzan claimed the 400-meter crown with time of 47.41 and Ryan captured the long jump title of 23-feet-5 ½ inches.
At Friday’s IHSAA state track and field meet held at Indiana University in Bloomington, Washington was the state champion in the 100-meter hurdles with a new state record time of 13.43, while Russin earned the 800-meter run title in a time of 2:12.35.
Special recognition also goes out to the Elkhart Memorial unified track and field team for claiming the state championship Saturday in Bloomington with 104 points, three points ahead of state runner-up Merrillville (101 points).
The Centier Bank Performer of the Week is open to any male-female student athlete who participates in any IHSAA sanctioned sport and whose school is in the Centier Bank geographic area.
