Chargers Fall in Region Championship; Finish 29-3

 

Port Huron, MI – Ancilla College has only lost three games this season and two of them are to Grand Rapids Community College. The latest was 85-72 in the championship game of the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 12, District 9 tournament where the Raiders hit shots when the Chargers could not. Grand Rapids (24-8) advances to the NJCAA National tournament for the second consecutive year after beating Ancilla (29-3) in the regional championship last year also.

The Chargers only shot 33 per cent for the game and was a woeful 3-27 from three-point range.

Tyler Chisom led Ancilla with 16 points, including the team’s first eight points of the game. Teyon Scanlan finished with 15 points and had seven straight free throw midway through the second half to keep the game close.  DK Fox and Erik Shepherd each had 11 points and eight rebounds.

Chisom and Scanlan, both freshmen, were named to the all-tournament team.

Grand Rapids got 29 points from Curtis Davidson, 22 from Zachary Pangborn and 21 from Anthony McIntosh.
