Chargers Survive on the Road Move to 24-1

Jackson, MI — Jackson Community College led #1 Ancilla College for most of the first 17 minutes of the second half before the Chargers used a five-point rally to take the lead for good. Ancilla beat Jackson 70-65 in a Michigan Community College Athletic Association game between the top two teams in the west division of the conference Saturday. Ancilla clinched the top spot in the MCCAA West Division with the win and will host the East Division winner at the end of the regular season.

Tyler Chisom led the Chargers (24-1, 14-0) with 18 points including a backdoor cut with about 10 seconds left to seal the victory.  Teyon Scanlan added 12 points and DK Fox finished with 11.

“Jackson is really playing well right now, said Ancilla head coach Aaron Butcher. “We didn’t play our best game, so to go on the road and get a win against a quality opponent says a lot about our team.”

“I am really happy for our guys that they become the first Ancilla basketball team to win a conference title in program history.”

The Chargers are back on the road Wednesday will they travel to Grand Rapids for a 7:30 p.m. contest.  They will be back home the 24th when they host Lansing Community college in a 3 p.m. tip.
