Here are some facts and figures about games involving Indiana college football teams. All times are eastern.
SEPTEMBER 8
Ohio (1-0) at Purdue (0-1) (8 p.m.): The Boilermakers claimed a 33-10 win over Ohio in the 1988 season. The Bobcats ran for 246 yards in their 59-0 blanking of Hampton. Jackson Anthrop came up with seven catches for 82 yards and two touchdowns in Purdue’s 35-28 loss to Louisville.
SEPTEMBER 9
Saint Francis (Ill.) (0-1) at Saint Francis (Ind.) (1-0) (Noon): The top-ranked and defending NAIA national champion Cougars earned a 42-20 win over Saint Francis (Ill.) during the 2014 campaign. The Fighting Saints threw for 520 yards in a 41-24 loss to No. 4 Morningside. Justin Green had 11 carries for 94 yards and three scores in Saint Francis’ 55-7 win against Jamestown.
Hanover (0-1) at Maryville (0-1) (1 p.m.): The Scots from Tennessee posted a 19-17 win over Hanover during the 1963 season. Isaac Rowan had a 68-yard interception return for a score in the Panthers’ 27-14 loss to Centre. Maryville managed just 73 yards on the ground in a 30-24 loss to Berry.
Millikin (1-0) at Rose-Hulman (1-0) (1 p.m.): The Fighting Engineers came away with a 26-14 win over Millikin last season. The Big Blue surrendered just 141 total yards in a 76-3 win over Greenville. Raymond Burtnick caught six passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns in Rose-Human’s 33-32 win over Illinois College.
Trine (1-0) at Bluffton (0-1) (1:30 p.m.): The Ohio-based Beavers edged Trine, 37-31, a year ago. Mark Wilson had 13 carries for 94 yards and a touchdown for the Thunder in their 35-12 win over Manchester. Bluffton was 9-of-14 on third-down conversions in a 45-21 loss to Wooster.
Duquesne (0-1) at Valparaiso (0-1) (2 p.m.): The Dukes downed Valparaiso, 45-17, in the 2012 season. Duquesne was outgained 609-284 in its 51-13 loss to South Dakota State. Dimitrios Latsonas connected on three field goals in the Crusaders’ 45-23 loss to Montana.
Robert Morris (1-1) at Marian (0-1) (2 p.m.): The No. 5 Knights won a pair of contests over Robert Morris last season by scores of 45-7 and 32-7. The No. 13 Eagles were guilty of 13 penalties for 89 yards in a 33-31 loss to North Central. David Diehl racked up eight tackles in Marian’s 32-27 loss to No. 24 Saint Xavier.
Alabama-Birmingham (1-0) at Ball State (0-1) (3 p.m.): The Blazers are meeting Ball State for the first time on the gridiron. In its first contest back after a two-year absence, Alabama-Birmingham averaged 5.3 yards per play in a 38-7 win over Alabama A&M. Riley Miller had six receptions for 86 yards in the Cardinals’ 24-21 loss at Illinois.
Indiana (0-1) at Virginia (1-0) (3:30 p.m.): The Cavaliers rallied for a 34-31 win at Indiana in the 2011 season. Richard Lagow was 40-of-65 for 410 yards and three scores in the Hoosiers’ 49-21 loss to No. 2 Ohio State. Virginia allowed just 72 yards through the air in a 28-20 win over William and Mary.
Indiana State (0-1) at Tennessee (1-0) (4 p.m.): The Sycamores are making their first trip to Neyland Stadium in Tennessee. LeMonte Booker ran 31 times for 154 yards and a touchdown in Indiana State’s 22-20 loss to Eastern Illinois. The Volunteers held the ball for just 18:33 in their 42-41 double-overtime victory over Georgia Tech.
Butler (0-1) at Franklin (0-1) (6 p.m.): The Bulldogs rolled to a 59-14 win against Franklin a season ago. Isaak Newhouse recorded 14 tackles, including 12 solo stops, for Butler in a 45-0 loss to Illinois State. Chase Burton tossed for 315 yards and five touchdowns in the Grizzlies’ 47-37 loss to Thomas More.
Indianapolis (1-0) at Wayne State (1-0) (6 p.m.): The Warriors from Michigan were a 28-19 winner over Indianapolis in the 2011 campaign, Al McKeller ran 51 yards for a touchdown in the Greyhounds’ 24-20 upset of Grand Valley State. Wayne State compiled 287 yards rushing in a 28-9 win over Walsh.
Manchester (0-1) at Alma (1-0) (6 p.m.): The Michigan-based Scots earned a 31-20 win at Manchester last year. Bailey Partington had four receptions for 93 yards and a score for the Spartans against Trine. Alma racked up 21 first downs in its 41-34 win over St. Vincent (Pa.).
DePauw (0-0) at Mount St. Joe (1-0) (6:30 p.m.): The Tigers cruised to a 44-13 win against Mount St. Joe in their last meeting. In posting an 8-2 record in 2016, DePauw outscored its opponents, 404-235. The Lions from Ohio had three interceptions in a 38-21 win over Capital.
Anderson (0-1) at Centre (1-0) (7 p.m.): The Colonels from Kentucky recorded a 56-14 win over Anderson last season. Blake Levy was just 11-of-27 for 104 yards in the Ravens’ 33-7 loss to North Park. Centre ran for 201 yards against Hanover.
Georgia (1-0) at Notre Dame (1-0) (7:30 p.m.): The Bulldogs captured the 1980 NCAA National Championship with a 17-10 win over Notre Dame in the 1981 Sugar Bowl. Georgia tallied 368 yards of offense in a 31-10 win over Appalachian State. Dexter accumulated 124 yards on the ground and a touchdown on six attempts for the Fighting Irish in their 49-16 win over Temple.
