GRAPEVINE, Texas – The College Football Playoff Selection Committee released its second set of top 25 rankings this season. The selection committee will prepare four more rankings, including the final set on Selection Day, Sunday, December 3. The top four teams in the final rankings will play in the Playoff Semifinals on January 1, 2018, at the Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual and the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

“From No. 1 to No. 25 in our rankings, the committee had intense discussions this week,” said selection committee chairman Kirby Hocutt. “Our task remains to decide who, at this point in time, are the best teams in the nation and then to rank them. We begin with a clean sheet of paper each week, looking at each team’s performance.”

The selection committee will continue to evaluate teams and will meet in person the remainder of the season to review game action and issue rankings each week.
