Crisp Named MSFA Mideast League Offensive Player of the Week
UPLAND, Ind. – Two days after excelling in Taylor’s 17-7 win over Missouri Baptist, senior running back, Spencer Crisp, was voted as the Mid-States Football Association Mideast League Offensive Player of the Week.
Crisp carried the ball 25 times for 145 yards and one touchdown in the win, surpassing 100 rushing yards for the first time during the 2019 season and the third time in his four-year career in the Purple and Gold backfield.
The Dayton, Ohio native turned in four runs of over 10 yards, including an 18-yard touchdown strike that opened the scoring and a 36-yard burst that led directly to TU’s second touchdown of the contest.
Crisp has been one of the focal points in an improved ground game for Taylor this season, rating No. 27 in the NAIA and second in the MSFA Mideast League with 95.0 rushing yards per outing through three games.
The MSFA Player-of-the-Week honor is the first for Crisp in his career and is the first MSFA Offensive Player-of-the-Week nod for the TU football program since Justin Keys was recognized on November 16, 2015, after rushing for 218 yards and four touchdowns in a 34-28 win at Trinity International in the season finale.
Crisp and the Trojans (2-1, 0-0 MSFA) will return to action on October 5 at 7:00 pm when they host Indiana Wesleyan (1-1, 0-0 MSFA) under the lights at Turner Stadium.
