Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | April 12-18

 

AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top athletes from April 12 through 18. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.

Softball Player of the Week
Chloe Tragresser, Indiana Wesleyan
Tragresser led No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan to a 6-0 week by hitting .611 with 11 hits in 18 at bats. The freshman scored six times, roped four doubles and knocked in four runs for the Wildcats to help them move into first place in the CL standings.

 

Softball Pitcher of the Week
Alyssa Wagner, Indiana Wesleyan
Wagner went 3-0 in the circle for No. 10 IWU, recording wins over Goshen, Bethel and No. 6 Marian. The freshman piled up 35 strikeouts in 19 innings and allowed just five hits and two walks. In a 3-0 win over Marian, Wagner fired a one-hit shutout with eight whiffs.

 

Baseball Player of the Week
Joe Moran, Taylor
Moran did a little bit of everything for No. 21 Taylor in six games, hitting .500 with three home runs, nine runs batted in, two doubles, five runs scored and two steals. Moran also added an 11-strikeout gem over 7.2 innings on the bump for his seventh win of the season.

 

Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Hunter Hoffman, Indiana Wesleyan
Hoffman picked up a win over then-No. 18 Taylor and tossed 7.1 strong innings in a walkoff win over RV Huntington. On the week, the freshman went 1-0 with a 1.26 earned-run average and 18 strikeouts in 14.1 innings to help IWU maintain control of the CL’s top spot.

 

Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Runner of the Week
Aspen Dirr, Huntington
Dirr finished first in the 1,500-meters and second in the 5,000-meters for Huntington at the Little State Championships. Dirr hit the NAIA ‘A’ standard in the 5,000-meters and ran the fifth-best time in the NAIA this season in the 1,500-meters.

 

Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week
Paige Sutter, Indiana Wesleyan
Sutter took home the shot put title at the Little State Championships with a toss of 14.09 meters. That mark was good for an automatic qualification into the NAIA National Championships for the Indiana Wesleyan senior.

 

Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Runner of the Week
Steven Ott, Indiana Wesleyan
Ott scored wins in the 800-meters and 4×800-meter relay for Indiana Wesleyan at the Little State Championships. Ott’s time of 1:52.16 in the 800-meters set a new IWU program record and automatically qualified him for NAIA Nationals.

 

Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week
Isaac Brown, Grace
Brown won the high jump at the Little State Championship with a height of 2.08 meters, once again clearing the NAIA ‘A’ standard for the Lancers.

 

Women’s Golfer of the Week
Madi Blanc, Marian
Blanc led No. 17 Marian to team wins at the Midway Invite and IU East Invite. The freshman won the Midway event, leading the Knights over No. 4 Southeastern for the team crown and then finished fourth that IU East.
