Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | August 12-18

AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the top athletes from the week of August 12 through 18. Sports Information Directors from the league nominate student-athletes for the award and vote on each week’s winners.
Volleyball Attacker of the Week
Paige Eakright, Huntington
Eakright tattered HU’s opponents for 60 kills in four matches to start the season, netting 4.0 kills per set to go with 2.9 digs and 0.4 blocks. The senior posted three-straight double-doubles to close the weekend, including 20 kills and 12 digs in a four-set win over Cumberlands.
Volleyball Defender of the Week
Ariene Butler, Huntington
Butler opened her junior campaign on a roll and eclipsed the 1,000-dig mark for her career with 72 digs in four showings. Butler averaged 4.8 digs per set and posted a pair of 20-plus dig efforts for the Foresters.
Volleyball Setter of the Week
Jennings Tacosik, Huntington
Tacosik ran the HU offense in a 3-1 week, proving to be an offensive force with 9.1 assists, 1.9 kills and 1.1 aces per set. The junior tallied 136 assists, 29 kills and 16 aces in the four contests, highlighting the week with 12 kills, 41 assists and four aces in a five-set win over Baker.
