Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | August 28-September 3

JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Tuesday, recognizing the league’s top individual performances from August 28 through September 3. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.
Volleyball Attacker of the Week
Eva Joldersma, Indiana Wesleyan
Joldersman repeated as the CL Attacker of the Week with 5.7 kills and 3.7 digs per set for No. 8 Indiana Wesleyan. The talented sophomore posted at least 15 kills in a pair of sweeps, added one double-double and hit .385 in the two victories.

Volleyball Defender of the Week
Livia Tate, Grace
Tate posted 20 total blocks for Grace over a trio of victories. The sophomore middle blocker was especially tough in a pair of four-set wins, posting nine blocks against Cumberland and eight against IUSB.

Volleyball Setter of the Week
Haley Biedenbach, Bethel
Biedenbach had two matches with over 50 assists, and helped No. 16 Bethel extend its season-opening win streak to 11 with a trio of wins. The freshman setter averaged 12.7 assists per set, racking up 140 over the three victories.

Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Naomi Walters, Marian
Walters scored four goals and added an assist to help No. 2 Marian to a rout of Indiana Tech and a 2-2 draw with No. 9 Embry-Riddle. Walters had a hat trick against Tech and scored the game-tying goal against Embry-Riddle in the final 10 minutes.

Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Reagan Kohler, Spring Arbor
Kohler went 2-0 in goal for No. 1 Spring Arbor, as the Cougars posted two lopsided shutout victories. Kohler needed just one save in each outing to register a pair of clean sheet wins.

Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Luis Miguel Parodi, Saint Francis
Parodi scored five times in two Saint Francis victories. The freshman forward netted the eventual game-winner among two strikes in a 6-2 win against Concordia and added a hat trick to lift the Cougars to a 5-2 win against IU-East.

Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Bram Stolp, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Stolp posted two shutouts in his first two collegiate starts for Mount Vernon Nazarene, helping the Cougars to a 1-0 win over Lourdes and a 4-0 victory against St. Mary-of-the-Woods. Stolp notched 14 saves in the 180 minutes of work.

Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Alex Ebetino, Saint Francis
Ebetino ran to a fourth-place finish with a time of 18:20.6 for Saint Francis at the PFW Mastodon Opener.

Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Mathew Keitany, Goshen
Keitany impressed in his first race with the Maple Leafs, taking sixth out of 60 with a time of 18:17 at the Winrow-Valparaiso Open. Keitany led No. 13 Goshen to a top finish among NAIA schools and third overall behind Purdue and Notre Dame.

Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Jimena Ramirez, Grace
Ramirez led Grace to a 5-2 win over Spring Arbor with wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Lancers. Ramirez won 6-2, 6-3 in singles play and 6-3 in doubles action for the Lancers.

Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Javier Gallego, Grace
Gallego was unbeaten at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles during No. 17 Grace’s 7-0 win against Spring Arbor to open league play for the Lancers. Gallego won 6-0, 6-1 in singles and 6-3 in doubles.
