Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | February 6-12

 

JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top individual performances from February 6 through 12. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.

Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Alize Tripp, Spring Arbor

Tripp powered Spring Arbor to wins over No. 6 Marian and Goshen with 16.0 points, 7.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds per victory. Tripp went for 18 points, six rebounds and four helpers in the upset over MU, before posting a 14-point, 10-assist double-double against GC.

 

Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Seth Maxwell, Indiana Wesleyan
Maxwell led No. 13 Indiana Wesleyan to wins over Taylor and RV Marian with 22.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per outing. The center shot 60.7 percent from the floor and highlighted his week with 31 points on 13-of-19 shooting in the win over MU.

 

Women’s Indoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Addy Wiley, Huntington

Wiley took the league’s top honor once again, after breaking yet another NAIA record. This time The Huntington freshman standout posted a time of 2:02.33 in the 800-meters for her third NAIA record of the season, while also hitting NAIA-standards in the DMR and 4×400-meter relay.

 

Women’s Indoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Gina Butz, Marian

Butz took second place in the high jump at the Jerry England Invite, hosted by University of Indianapolis. The Marian sophomore cleared 1.62 meters for her best height of the season.

 

Men’s Indoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Eli Fullerton, Indiana Wesleyan

Fullerton ran a program-record time of 8:15.70 in the 3,000-meters for Indiana Wesleyan at the Grand Valley State Big Meet. Fullerton’s time was the fastest in the Crossroads League this season and the fourth-best time in the NAIA this season.

 

Men’s Indoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Kyler Dickey, Mount Vernon Nazarene

Dickey hit the NAIA A-standard with a heave of 16.40 meters in the shot put at the Tiffin Invite. Dickey placed third-of-35 in the event.

 

Women’s Bowler of the Week
Lauren Jackson, Bethel

Jackson posted an average score of 192.25 and totaled 769 pins for Bethel at the Scotty Classic. That performance placed Jackson sixth-of-140 individuals at the competition.

 

Men’s Bowler of the Week
Cameron Compton, Bethel

Compton led Bethel at the Scotty Classic, rolling a 739 with an average single-game score of 184.8.

 

Baseball Player of the Week
Dion Wintjes, Marian

Wintjes collected seven hits in 10 trips to the plate for Marian during a three-game sweep at Tougaloo. The senior catcher mixed in three doubles and one home run, drove in seven and walked twice during the three-game series.

 

Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Tyler Papenbrock, Huntington

Papenbrock sat down 11 of the 18 batters he faced via the whiff in an 11-0 win over IUPUC for Huntington. The sophomore earned the win on the bump, fanning 11 batters and allowing just one hit in 4.2 innings of work.
