Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | February 8-14

AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top athletes from February 8 through 14. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.
Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Rylee Pireu, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Pireu paced MVNU in a pair of home wins by netting 17.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals per contest, while shooting 43.8 percent from beyond the arc. The sophomore highlighted her week with 24 points on six-of-nine shooting from deep in a win over Goshen.
Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Cameron Wolter, Marian
Wolter powered No. 13 Marian to a trio of victories, scoring over 20 points in all three games. The senior center averaged 22.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.0 blocks for the week, connecting at a 66.7-percent rate from the field with 28 makes in 42 attempts.
Baseball Hitter of the Week
Denver Blinn, Indiana Wesleyan
Blinn highlighted IWU’s series at No. 6 Faulkner, hitting .333 over the three games and doubling twice. Blinn also scored three of the Wildcats’ nine runs and added one stolen base.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Mitch Ubelhor, Taylor
Ubelhor was untouchable in his outing for Taylor against No. 17 Reinhart, striking out eight-of-10 batters he faced over three nearly perfect frames in relief. The senior hurler allowed just one walk in the three innings and did not yield a hit.
Women’s Indoor Track and Field Runner of the Week
Emma Mott, Bethel
Mott continued her strong indoor campaign for Bethel, posting wins in the 800 and mile races at the Indiana Tech Classic. Mott set a new BU record in the mile and currently ranks second in the NAIA in both events this season.

Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week
Erin Oleksak, Marian
Oleksak set a new Marian record and posted the NAIA’s top mark of the year in the high jump, took third in the long jump and set a new personal-best in the shot put during a busy showing for the Knights at the Indiana Tech Classic.
Men’s Indoor Track and Field Runner of the Week
Jonah Lester, Bethel
Lester led Bethel at the Indiana Tech Classic with a win in the high jump. The senior’s leap currently ranks No. 14 in the NAIA this season.

Tommee Smith, Spring Arbor
Smith picked up a win in the 1,000-meters for Spring Arbor at the Mount Vernon Nazarene Invite, crossing with a new personal-best and turning in the fourth-fastest time in the NAIA.
