Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | March 15-21
AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top athletes from March 15 through 21. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.
Softball Hitter of the Week
Miranda Wehrle, Indiana Wesleyan
Wehrle helped the No. 12 Wildcats to an 8-0 week by hitting .560 with four home runs and 15 runs batted in. Wehrle also added two doubles and finished the week with a 1.120 slugging percentage over 25 at bats.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Alyssa Wagner, Indiana Wesleyan
Wagner went 4-0 in the circle for No. 12 Indiana Wesleyan, allowing only two earned runs in 18.2 innings. The freshman fanned 26 hitters and only allowed 17 runners to reach via a hit or a walk.
Baseball Hitter of the Week
MJ Stavola, Indiana Wesleyan
Stavola led RV Indiana Wesleyan to a 5-1 week by hitting .444 with three doubles, two triples and eight runs batted in. The freshman also scored five times and added three stolen bases.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Jon Young, Indiana Wesleyan
Young held Goshen scoreless over six innings and piled up 11 strikeouts in the 10-0 victory. Young scattered six hits and walked only two Maple Leaf batters while notching the win.
