Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | March 26-April 1

AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League announced its athletes of the week on Monday, recognizing the top performers from the week of March 26 through April 1. In order to be considered for the award, a student-athlete must be nominated by their institution’s Sports Information Director.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Caleb Eder, Indiana Wesleyan
Eder controlled the RV Taylor lineup throughout IWU’s 5-2 victory, racking up 11 strikeouts to just two walks and allowing only two runs to record the complete-game victory on the bump for the Wildcats. Eder also delivered the game-winning three-run homer at the plate.
Baseball Player of the Week
Caleb Eder, Indiana Wesleyan
Eder swept the Crossroads League weekly honors by hitting .381 with two dingers, six runs batted in, six runs scored, two doubles, one steal and three walks. Eder helped IWU to a 4-1 clip, which included two wins over RV Taylor with a 1.262 OPS over his 24 plate appearances.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Sarah Boue’, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Boue’ was nearly unhittable in the circle for MVNU, firing a pair of one-hit shutouts for the Cougars in wins over Goshen and Bethel. Boue’ went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA, 0.38 WHIP and 13 strikeouts in the two outings.
Softball Player of the Week
Cassie Kuizin, Taylor
Kuizin erupted for a .650 average and 2.541 OPS with six home runs, three doubles, one triple, 13 RBI, 12 runs scored and three steals to help Taylor to a 4-2 week. Kuizin had a pair of multi-homer games and hit for the cycle, while going 11-of-15 at the plate in TU’s four victories.
Men’s Golfer of the Week
Alec Dutkowski, Taylor
Dutkowski tied for first at the TPC Deere Run Invitational to help No. 13 Taylor win the 23-team event. Dutkowski topped the 120-golfer field with a 68 and 71 to card a 139 on the 6,604-yard course.
Women’s Golfer of the Week
Casey Bunner, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Bunner set an MVNU record and became the first Cougar to win an individual title in program history by shooting a 75 and 78 to finish first-of-68 at the 12-team Ohio Valley Invitational.
Men’s Outdoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Mitchell Soviak, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Soviak won the shot put with a toss of 16.89 meters and took second in the discus at 45.31 meters to pace Mount Vernon Nazarene’s second-place showing at the Wooster Invite.
Men’s Outdoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Carl Jones Jr., Mount Vernon Nazarene
Jones Jr. scored wins in the 100, 200 and 4×100-meter relay to help MVNU to a second-place finish at the Wooster Invite. Jones logged times of 10.90, 22.33 and 42.79 in the three events.
Women’s Outdoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Emily Weber, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Weber finished second-of-19 with a leap of 5.53 in the long jump and took sixth-of-25 with a time of 13.18 in the 100-meter dash at the Wooster Invite for MVNU.
Women’s Outdoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Rachel Gerber, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Gerber excelled in the distance events for Mount Vernon Nazarene, posting fourth-place finishes in the 1,500 and 800-meter runs. Gerber’s time of 4:55.30 in the 1,500 was good for a new MVNU record.
