Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | March 8-14

AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top athletes from March 8 through 14. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.
Softball Hitter of the Week
Rianna Koteles, Goshen
Koteles hit .565 with six doubles, two triples and 10 runs batted in for Goshen, while scoring three times and stealing a trio of bases. Koteles had at least one extra-base hit in six of Goshen’s eight games, helping the Maple Leafs to seven victories with a 1.000 slugging percentage.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Abigail McPherson, Marian
McPherson picked up two wins and one save in four outings for No. 5 Marian, helping the Knights to wins in each appearance. The freshman registered the final eight outs in MU’s win over No. 14 Olivet Nazarene and fired complete games at Midway and Trinity International.

Baseball Hitter of the Week
Denver Blinn, Indiana Wesleyan
Blinn had multi-hit games in five-of-six wins for Indiana Wesleyan, hitting .625 with 15 hits in 24 at bats for the Wildcats. Blinn added six doubles, two homers and 10 runs batted in, while swiping two bags and posting a slugging percentage of 1.125.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Kole Aping, Marian
Aping piled up 12 strikeouts in a seven-inning shutout against Goshen. The senior allowed just two hits and two walks in the 6-0 victory.
