Crossroads League Names Marandet and Cyrus as Athletes of the Week
AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League announced its athletes of the week on Monday, recognizing the top performers from the week of January 1-7. In order to be considered for the award, a student-athlete must be nominated by their institution’s Sports Information Director.
Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Paul Marandet, Spring Arbor
Marandet remained red-hot to lead No. 16 Spring Arbor past Goshen and Huntington with 29.0 points, 7.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game. The sophomore guard also shot 64.5 percent from the floor and was 16-of-16 from the charity stripe. Marandet posted a career-high with 34 points in SAU’s win at Goshen, before adding 24 points and nine assists against HU.
Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Dejah Cyrus, Marian
Cyrus led No. 5 Marian to a pair of comeback wins over Bethel and RV Taylor with 18.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, while connecting on 77.3 percent of her shots from the floor. The junior forward posted 18 points and 13 boards against Bethel, before going eight-of-eight with 17 of her 18 points in the second half to fuel MU’s rally past Taylor.
