Delisca Named NAIA Wrestler of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo.—For the first time in program history, Southeastern University is home to the NAIA National Wrestler of the Week.

With his 133-pound title at the Georgia Open over the weekend, junior Olson Delisca was named the first NAIA National Wrestler of the Week for the 2017-18 season, and the first in program history.

Delisca defeated NCAA Division II King’s Dustin Kirk, who is ranked No. 1 in the latest Intermat rankings. Kirk finished third last year at the NCAA Championships, and is a former All-American.

Ranked sixth at 125 pounds, Delisca also picked up a pin and a tech fall to advance to the title bout.

This marks the second NAIA Player of the Week for an SEU athlete this year. Uchenna Kanu of women’s soccer was selected as the Offensive Player of the Week on October 24th.

The Fire host Reinhardt and Cumberlands in their first dual meets of the season on December 2.
