8 Big Ten Teams Selected for NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Eight Big Ten schools have been selected to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship, it was announced Sunday on the NCAA Men’s Basketball Selection Show on CBS.
Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Oregon, Purdue, UCLA, and Wisconsin will all be taking part in this year’s tournament. All games will be televised on CBS Sports, TBS, TNT or truTV beginning on Tuesday night.
Fresh off winning the 2025 TIAA Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament, Michigan claimed the Big Ten’s automatic qualifier into the tournament and earned a No. 5 seed in the South region and will face UC-San Diego in Thursday’s first round in Denver. Wisconsin, the No. 3 seed in the East will also head to Denver to play Montana.
Also on Thursday, Purdue, the No. 4 seed in the Midwest, will face High Point in Providence, R.I., while the Midwest Region’s No. 7 seed UCLA will open tournament play in Lexington on Thursday against Utah State.
Big Ten regular season champion Michigan State earned the No. 2 seed in the South and will make its 27th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance on Friday, when the Spartans meet Bryant in Cleveland. No. 6 seed in the Midwest, Illinois, will face either Texas or Xavier in Milwaukee.
Seattle will play host to a pair of Big Ten teams on Friday, as the West’s No. 4 seed Maryland will play Grand Canyon and No. 5 seed in the East, Oregon will face Liberty.
The 2025 Final Four is scheduled for April 5 on San Antonio, Texas, with the national championship game slated for Monday, April 7.
