Willie Estrada Receives Gold Glove Award
KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) in conjunction with the American Baseball Coaches Association has announced the 2019 ABCA-Rawlings-NAIA Baseball Gold Glove Team. Senior catcher Willie Estrada represented Southeastern University on the honor roll.
This marks the first Gold Glove selection SEU has received since Angel Garced in 2016.
Over the course of 46 regular season games and conference tournament games, Estrada recorded just two passed balls as the backstop of the Fire.
In 436 chances, the Kissimmee native recorded 398 putouts, 35 assists, and committed only three errors for a .993 fielding percentage.
Additionally, Estrada threw out 12 runners in 24 stolen base attempts when he was behind the plate.
The nine award winners, who were chosen based upon their defensive success, were selected by the NAIA Baseball Coaches Association All-America Committee.
