Fire Baseball Heading to Macon for NAIA Opening Round

Southeastern Will Compete in Macon Bracket as a Number One Seed
KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the pairings for the 2019 NAIA Baseball Opening Round. The Southeastern University baseball team is a No. 1 Seed in the Macon Bracket, which will be hosted by second-seeded Middle Georgia State.
The Fire make their fifth overall and third-straight appearance in the NAIA postseason. Southeastern received an at-large bid after posting a 48-10 record, capturing its first Sun Conference Regular Season Championship in program history, and being ranked No. 1 in every installment of the NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll this season.
SEU currently leads the NAIA in five offensive categories including Total Doubles (152), Team Batting Average (.354), and Runs Scored (557).
The second-seeded Knights of Middle Georgia State received an at-large bid out of the Southern States Athletic Conference, marking their fourth NAIA postseason appearance.
The Rio Grande Red Storm are the No. 3 Seed after capturing the River States Tournament Championship, marking their fourth Opening Round appearance.
The Crossroads Regular Season Champion Huntington Foresters are the fourth-seeded squad and are also making their fourth NAIA postseason appearance.
Rounding out the Macon Bracket is the No. 5 Seed, the British Columbia Thunderbirds, who were the Unaffiliated CalPac/Frontier/Cascade Tournament Runner-Ups. British Columbia is making its eighth NAIA Opening Round appearance, the most of any team in the bracket.
The Fire will take on the winner of Huntington/British Columbia on Monday May 13 with first pitch to be determined.
