Fire Baseball Holds Down NAIA Top Ranking for Sixth Straight Coaches’ Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo.- For the sixth-straight installment of the NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the Southeastern University baseball team came in at number one in the ranking. The Fire received 11 of the 18 first-place votes.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and the Association of Independent Institutions.
The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
The Fire lead the NAIA Runs Scored per Game (10.1), Team Batting Average (.365), Total Runs Scored (463), Total Runs Batted In (408), and Team Slugging Percentage (.618).
St. Thomas, who swept SEU in Miami Gardens this past weekend, jumped four spots in the poll from No. 10 to No. 6.
The largest Sun Conference climber however was Webber International, who rose six placements from No. 25 to No. 19.
Both Keiser and Warner appeared in the receiving votes section of the poll.
The Fire take on the No. 19 Webber International Warriors in Babson Park Wednesday evening for a non-conference contest. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
