Positively Promoting the Student Athlete Since 1992

LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern University Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach Paul Kurtz announced the 2019 schedule for his programs.
Once again, the season starts at nearby Holloway Park for the Fire Short Course Invitational on the morning of September 7th. The Fire will return to Holloway Park on September 27th for the FL Runners Challenge. This marks the first time since 2015 the Fire have run in that invitational when it was held in Titusville.
“This schedule will give our men and women’s team a variety of challenges in courses, climate and put us up against some of the best competition in the NAIA,” said Kurtz. “It should prepare us well for our conference meet and hopefully at help get our teams to the national meet in Washington.”
The Fire will also be making a return to the Mountain Dew Invitational at the University of Florida on September 27th. Two weeks later SEU will run at the Royals Challenge in Charlotte, which is the former host of the NAIA National Championship.
On October 26, the Fire will run its northernmost race in program history at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge in Grand Rapids, Mich.
The Sun Conference Championship Meet will be hosted by USCB at the Hardeeville School Complex on November 9th. Two weeks later is the NAIA National Championship, which will be in Fort Vancouver, Wash.
“I see our teams being very competitive at all of these meets, but some of them will push our kids to a higher level and get them out of their comfort zone,” said Kurtz. “I am excited to see our runners use these meets to push them through the season and do great things in the postseason.”
