LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern University football players Marque Northington and Cory Rahman were both named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with two semesters complete at their current institution with a minimum grade point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale, and be a starter or key reserve for their team.

Northington, a senior, earned All-District recognition for the second year in a row. In 2018, he was named First-Team All-Mid-South Sun Division as a slot receiver and second team as a return specialist. The Louisville native had 26 catches for 242 yards with four touchdowns and averaged 12.3 yards per punt return and 21.3 per kickoff return. Northington completed his undergrad degree in business administration with a 3.44 grade point average, and is pursuing an MBA in executive leadership.

Rahman recorded six interceptions and was a key component of the NAIA’s top pass defense. The sophomore from Orlando had 49 tackles with 2.5 for loss. In the classroom, Rahman has a 3.66 grade point average as a management major.

Both are now eligible for the Google Cloud Academic All-America Teams, announced December 13.

The Fire finished the 2018 season with a 7-3 record and were co-champions of the Mid-South Sun Division.
