VALDOSTA, Ga.—The Fire men’s golf team shot an even-par team score of 288 in the second round to move five spots up the leaderboard to finish the Thomas University Fall Invitational with a fourth-place finish.
Southeastern shaved off 16 strokes from its first round score of 304, and had two players go under par in the final round.
Coastal Georgia won the event by two strokes over Point with Keiser placing third at 584.
Individually, sophomore Andres Padilla placed fourth overall with scores of 73 and 70 to finish the tournament one-under.
Freshman Matthew Soucinek cut seven strokes off of his first round score of 78 to shoot a one-under 71 in his second round of collegiate golf. He placed 21st overall.
Landry Miller and Jacob Soucinek each had 36-hole scores of 151 to tie for 28th. Miller shot 77 in Round 1, then 74 in Round 2. Soucinek opened with a 78, then closed with a 73.
Noah Endicott was in a tie for 33rd, shooting a 76 in both rounds.
The Fire will be back in action next week at Innisbrook Resort for the USCB Invitational.
